Group Psychotherapy
Healing deeps when it happens in community - with people who truly understand
Healing That Happens in Community
There is something that individual therapy alone cannot replicate: the experience of being truly seen and understood by peers who are navigating their own struggles. Group therapy harnesses the unique power of shared experience — the moments of recognition, the relief of realizing you are not alone, and the courage that comes from witnessing others do the hard work alongside you.
What Group Therapy Looks like
Our groups typically include six to ten members and are facilitated by an experienced group therapist. Sessions meet weekly and run 75 to 90 minutes — long enough to allow meaningful exploration without overwhelming anyone. Membership is consistent, which means the same people show up each week, building trust and depth over time.
Group therapy at Gather is not a support group, a psychoeducation class, or a drop-in session. It is real clinical therapy conducted in a group setting. The group becomes a living laboratory for understanding how you relate to others — and for practicing new, healthier ways of connecting.
Everything shared in group is confidential. We establish clear agreements at the outset, and your therapist actively maintains a safe, respectful environment where every voice matters and no one is pressured to share before they are ready.
How Group Therapy Can Help
Group therapy offers something individual therapy cannot — the chance to grow in relationship with others, in real time, with real feedback and real connection.
Break Isolation
Discover that you are not alone in what you carry. Hearing others name experiences similar to yours reduces shame and builds a sense of belonging that can be profoundly healing.
Practice New Ways of Relating
Group offers real-time relational practice — a place to try being more honest, more vulnerable, or more assertive, and to receive genuine feedback in a space that is safe enough to take risks.
Gain Multiple Perspectives
Hear how others navigate challenges similar to yours. The diversity of perspectives in a group can expand your view in ways that a single therapeutic relationship cannot.
Deepen Self-Awareness
See your relational patterns reflected in group dynamics. The way you show up in group often mirrors how you show up in life — and that awareness is the beginning of real change.
Who Group Therapy Is For
Group therapy at Gather is designed for adults navigating relational challenges, grief, anxiety, identity questions, and life transitions. You do not need to be in crisis or have a specific diagnosis — you just need to be open to exploring your experience alongside others.
Not everyone starts comfortable with the idea of group. That is completely normal. Many people wonder whether they will be able to open up, whether the group will understand them, or whether it will feel too exposing. These concerns are welcome and expected.
The truth is, the discomfort of being seen is often where the deepest work happens. It is in the moments of vulnerability — when someone reflects back what they notice, or when you realize your experience resonates with a room full of people — that something fundamentally shifts.

Is GroupTherapy Right for Me?
It is completely natural to have reservations. What if I don't want to share? What if I cry? What if I know someone? These are among the most common concerns people have before joining a group — and every single one of them is valid and welcome.
You will never be forced to share before you are ready. Crying is not only acceptable, it is often a sign that something important is happening. And the likelihood of knowing someone is small — but even if it happens, it can be navigated with care and clear boundaries.
Here is what we hear most often from people who were nervous at the start: group ended up being the most transformative part of their entire therapy experience. There is something that happens when you stop performing and start being real with a room full of people doing the same thing. Walls come down. Patterns become visible. And healing happens in ways that surprise everyone — including the therapist.
Something shifts when you realize you're not the only one carrying this.
If you are curious whether group therapy might be right for you, we offer a free 15-minute consultation to talk it through. No pressure, no commitment — just an honest conversation about what you are looking for and whether group could be part of it.
